You Won’t Believe Your Ears With Nissan and Infiniti’s New App
Nissan has just announced a new app called Personalized Sound that will allow select drivers to enjoy a personalized audio profile based on their individual hearing abilities. It’s hailed as an industry first in North America.
Before explaining what the app does, you should know that it’s now available for free download (via Google Play) in all Nissan and Infiniti vehicles equipped with Google built-in. This includes the 2024 and newer Rogue, the Armada and Murano starting from 2025 as well as the all-new 2026 LEAF, plus the refreshed 2026 QX60 and the 2025-2026 QX80.

Personalized Sound, which works across both standard and premium-branded audio systems, optimizes audio from Bluetooth and in-vehicle sources (including those downloaded from Google Play such as Spotify and Audible). Future compatibility with additional sources is being developed, with release expected in 2026.
Basically, after downloading the app, the program will guide drivers through a hearing test by playing tones of varying loudness and pitch—similar to what some high-end headphones do. The driver responds with how well they can hear each sound by tapping on the infotainment screen, and the program will create a bespoke listening experience based on that individual's hearing profile. The entire setup process takes only three minutes, Nissan says.
More specifically, Personalized Sound goes beyond traditional bass, treble, fade and balance adjustments—it uses the test results to precisely tweak a 10-band equalizer with frequencies from 50 hertz to 1,200 hertz.
"We want to elevate every driver's experience, whether they have a hearing impairment, are true audiophiles, or simply want to get the most out of their sound system," says Mitchell Pope, a senior product planner at Nissan who helped develop the app.
He claims that after taking the test, most drivers will notice a clear difference with their new audio profile, often picking up details they didn't before, even in songs they've listened to countless times. Now, that sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?
Oh, and one more thing : it doesn’t matter if the vehicle has more than one driver, because multiple Personalized Sound profiles can be created and selected when starting the vehicle.
