The PT Cruiser Dies Today!

Published on July 9, 2010 in News by Dan Fritter

Today is officially the last day of the PT Cruiser’s most recent lease on life. With its previous death sentence having been deferred by a floundering Chrysler brand in need of market-ready product in its post-bankruptcy phase, the diminutive and too-long-lived caricature of ‘90s car design is finally ceasing production.

Obviously this is, in and of itself, a good thing. What makes it a great thing is the news that the PT Cruiser’s demise means its former birthplace, Chrysler’s Toluca, Mexico production facility will finally be retooled in preparation for the production of its next product: the North America-bound Fiat 500.
