Bigfoot Defects! AKA Ford Pulls Monster Truck Sponsorship

Published on July 21, 2010 in News by Dan Fritter

The first monster truck, and possibly most iconic, has changed forever. Bigfoot, the giant car-crushing truck many of us grew up with, is now a Chevy Silverado.

After losing a cost-cutting Ford Motor Company as a sponsor of the Bigfoot team in 2007, Bigfoot leaned heavily on their largest remaining sponsor; Firestone. A huge promoter of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, Firestone was eager to use Bigfoot as a gigantic moving billboard for the baseball event, and went shopping for like-minded companies eager to share in the promotion. And who should come knocking on their door other than the big bad wolf themselves (and fellow MLB All-Star sponsor), Chevrolet. Offering a slick-looking Silverado skin and a GM powerplant, the Bigfoot team summarily dropped their ubiquitous blue livery and preferred brand in favour of a baseball-inspired tri-colour and bodywork that will surely have Bigfoot fans the world over weeping.
