2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit Revealed

With Ford and GM already courting local police detachments with their respective Taurus and Caprice police vehicles, the policing world has been curious to see what Chrysler would bring to the table to replace the aging and now-defunct Crown Victoria.

Not surprisingly, what has arrived at the table is something that resembles the Charger police car already in operation with many police services in this country, as well as our southerly neighbours’. However, this new model is based on the still-secret civilian 2011 Dodge Charger.  Although obviously looking slightly different than the civilian model that has yet to debut, the police model’s biggest changes will be under the bodywork, where heavy duty brakes, front and rear sway bars, and 18” performance tires augment a new two-mode, police-specific stability control system.  And since it’s available with either the 3.6L V6 or 5.7L V8, it just might need those stability control programs.
