Porsche Puts Future Products Under Review

Published on October 15, 2010 in News by Dan Fritter

According to reports, Porsche’s chairman Matthias Müeller has pressed pause on the creation of all new Porsche models. Most notably putting a hold on the impending Cajun two-door, entry-level SUV and sub-Boxster roadster, the news comes out of an apparent desire to guarantee that both vehicles make financial sense.

However, critics are quick to point out that this is just the latest in a recent string of awkward moves at the Porsche headquarters since Volkswagen’s takeover of the last large scale independent sports car manufacturer. With Volkswagen already reporting that Porsche-developed chassis’ will underpin future Volkswagen models, the question may not be one of fiscal viability within the Porsche stable, but rather of Porsche’s financial responsibility within the Volkswagen Auto Group.
