Lexus SC430's Replacement to Double Current Horsepower?

Published on October 15, 2010 in News by Dan Fritter

The Lexus SC430 is one of the oldest sports cars still in production. Once a halo vehicle, it’s now undeniably out of place sharing a showroom a Lexus’ LF-A supercar. So what will replace the SC?

Well, if you believe the rumours, it sounds like Lexus is planning to design a new car around the potent hybrid powerplant currently found under the long, luxurious hood of the LS600hL. With two fewer doors and a few hundred (or thousand) less pounds than that sedan and somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 horsepower, it should prove quite the performer. But there is a catch: early reports indicate that the SC’s replacement won’t show up until after 2014, when the next generation of LS debuts.
