Ford Recalls 71 Ford Edges and Lincoln MKXs

Published on November 2, 2010 in Recalls by Dan Fritter

Well, they’ve only been in production for a few months, but Ford has already issued a recall for the Edge and MKX models. Acting fast to avoid a large-scale recall the likes of which would sound familiar to a certain Japanese auto giant, Ford’s deduced that just 71 vehicles left the assembly line with improper lock programming that does not allow the rear hatch to be locked by either the remote or any buttons within the vehicle.

Violating the United States’ NHTSA law regarding lock and door retention systems, the failure could obviously result in an insecure vehicle. Ford dealers are performing corrective reprogramming of the affected vehicles free of charge, and any concerned owner is instructed to contact their dealer for more information.
