Jaeger-LeCoultre Makes James Bond Gadgetry a Reality

There’s an undeniable link between England’s prettiest cars and the world’s most famous spy. Although occasionally abandoning his Aston Martins in favour of controversial German machines, James Bond has relied upon the historic marque to keep him alive on numerous occasions. Be it with defibrillators, invisibility paint, or rocket launchers, his Astons have gone down in history as being some of the most heavily optioned out sports cars ever.

And now Aston Martin and Jaeger-LeCoultre are bringing some of that spy-ready gadgetry to the civilian market. Called the AMVOX2, the luxurious timepiece is the third in a series of watches from the historic brand that possess the ability to unlock Aston Martin’s desirable DB9 sports car. Already available for the DBS and Rapide, the transponder watch opens and closes the DB9 by pressing on the appropriate side of the watch’s glass. Pressing both sides at once initiates the car’s “Find Me” sequence, in which the headlights come on while the doors remain locked.
Of course, being a Jaeger timepiece and working in concert with one of the most desirable cars on the planet, it’s not cheap… but then again, if you have the DB9 to unlock, money probably isn’t an issue.
