J.D. Power recently published its 2020 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, which measures problems in model-year 2017 vehicles.

The study covers 177 specific problems grouped into eight major vehicle categories. And while there has been a slight improvement across the entire auto industry, the rapid introduction of complex in-vehicle technology is putting increased pressure on dependability.

The latest brand rankings have a new No. 1:

  1. Genesis
  2. Lexus
  3. Buick
  4. Porsche
  5. Toyota
  6. Volkswagen
  7. Lincoln
  8. BMW
  9. Chevrolet
  10. Ford

However, the Lexus ES is the highest-ranked model in the 2020 study. Its score of 52 problems per 100 vehicles is the best ever recorded in the 31-year history of the study. Go to the next page to see the list of the most dependable models in each and every category…
