Dodge Grand Caravan Production Ends in May: A Final Homage
After years of uncertainty, FCA is finally and officially abandoning the Dodge Grand Caravan. The death of the popular minivan was vaguely announced last summer with the launch of the 2021 Chrysler Voyager, a simpler and cheaper version of the Pacifica, but we have now learned that production will end in late May at the Windsor, Ontario assembly plant.
Some 1,500 jobs will be lost and the third shift will be eliminated on June 29. Some workers will take retirement packages, others will eventually be offered new jobs based on seniority, FCA assures. The goal is to “align volumes with demand.”

Minivans are losing significant market shares these days as consumers prefer SUVs and pickups. But despite a drop of 15 percent, the Grand Caravan still found 27,283 takers in Canada last year, way more than any other Dodge product and any other minivan (the Toyota Sienna sold 14,631 units).
