The all-new Ford Escape, based on the Focus platform, arrives with three four-cylinder engines all mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The base model, front-wheel driven only, uses a 2.5l. Further up the range are two EcoBoost engines, the new-to-these-shores 1.6l and the brilliant 2.0l, both available in either front or all-wheel drive. Much sportier and more economical than before, the 2.5l version also makes it one of the most inexpensive SUVs on the market.
