The popular Escape loses its SEL trim for 2014, but is otherwise unchanged. Trim levels dictate what four-cylinder is found under the hood: 2.5L (168 horsepower, 170 lbs.-ft.) for the S; 1.6L EcoBoost (178 horsepower, 184 lbs.-ft.) for the SE; and 2L EcoBoost (240 horsepower, 270 lbs.-ft.) optional on the SE and standard on the Titanium. All versions come with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is optional on the SE and Titanium. All permutations send their power to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
