The spirited Tucson is up against some tough competition (like the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4). The basic versions have a 165-hp 2.4L four-cylinder engine and the factory-standard transmission is a five-speed manual, although there’s a six-speed automatic available too. It has front-wheel drive. The other Tucsons have a 176-hp 2.4L four-cylinder and a six-speed automatic gearbox that sends power either just to the front wheels or to all four.
