Designed and developed entirely by Mazda to replace the Tribute, the CX-5 was the first of this manufacturer’s vehicles to offer the complete SKYACTIV system, the key to its impressive handling and reduced fuel consumption. The 2.0L engine comes factory-standard and produces 155 horsepower. The optional 2.5L, on the other hand, develops 184. The basic version is a front-wheel drive, but buyers can opt for all-wheel drive if they prefer.
Pros

- Good fuel economy
- Nicely crafted fit and trim
- Sporty ride
Cons
- Bare-bones base trim
- Rear visibility just OK
- Base engine barely cuts it (2.0-litre engine)
- A diesel engine would be a welcome addition
