If you can get past the polarizing front fascia, the Outlander has a lot to offer. Consider the smooth ride, capable all-wheel drive system, nicely appointed cabin, generous cargo room and excellent warranty. While the naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine is a bit under-powered (181 hp) given the weight of the vehicle, the PHEV variant stands out with 248 hp and up to 61 km of zero-emission range. The third-row seats are excessively tight, however.

- Beautiful interior presentation
- Efficient standard all-wheel drive
- Very good electric range (PHEV)
Cons
- Modest power (gasoline)
- Third row to forget
- Slightly disappointing dynamics
- Thirsty in hybrid mode (PHEV)
