Although all Subarus, with one exception, have all-wheel drive, the Forester is considered the brand’s SUV. Its higher ground clearance, squared angles and numerous windows make it better suited for off-roading. The basic version is equipped with a 2.5L 170-hp horizontally-opposed engine. There’s an optional 2.0L 250-hp turbo paired with a continuously variable transmission.
