Having parted ways with the Impreza, the Subaru WRX and WRX STI are now free to carve out their own career, and new models are expected to be released in the coming months. Whereas the Subaru label was once equated with drivers who weren’t particularly concerned about vehicle performance, these two models and their powerful turbocharged engine have turned around the brand’s image. The WRX’s 2.5L turbo produces 265 horsepower while the STI’s more athletic engine produces 305 horsepower.
