The Corolla Cross checks all the right boxes. It’s a versatile, safe and reliable crossover with good residual value. The standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine (169 horsepower) doesn’t need a turbo and thus proves cheaper to maintain, while the hybrid variant (196 horsepower) burns as little as 5.6 L/100 km of gasoline combined. The latter costs nearly as much as the larger RAV4 Hybrid, though. Too bad for customers, Toyota can’t keep up with demand.
Pros
- Undeniable versatility
- Excellent fuel economy
- Good road behavior
Cons
- Hybrid version almost as expensive as the RAV4
- Limited availability to be expected
- Ventilated front and heated rear seats not available
