Competing in the three-row midsize SUV segment, the Toyota Highlander offers a choice of two powertrains. The gas-only 3.5-litre V6 generates 295 horsepower and can tow up to 5,000 pounds. For more efficiency, there is a hybrid variant that combines a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with a pair of electric motors. Because it’s less powerful (243 horsepower), maximum towing capacity is down to 3,500 pounds. The Highlander Hybrid is now available in a Bronze Edition.
