Three of the Golf's trim levels—the Trendline, Comfortline and Highline—are powered by a 170-horsepower, four-cylinder turbo, while the performance-oriented GTI and R (with all-wheel drive) feature a 2.0L turbo that generates 210 and 292 horsepower, respectively. The SportWagen now has optional all-wheel drive, as does the higher-riding Alltrack. At press time, there was no reason to expect the return of the diesel engine, but the 100% electric e-Golf could arrive here at some point this year. Last call for the three-door GTI.
