When the Tiguan expanded in size for its second generation, it gave Volkswagen some space in the lineup to later add a subcompact crossover. The Taos made its debut for 2022 and is actually just 4 cm longer than the original Tiguan. Styling is similar except for the front grille. The turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine under the hood is admittedly a bit under-powered (158 horsepower). FWD models use an eight-speed automatic transmission, while AWD models get a seven-speed unit.
