A year removed from a mid-cycle update including cosmetic revisions and technological enhancements, the Volkswagen Taos returns with few major changes. The turbocharged 1.5-litre engine now generates 174 horsepower (up from 158 hp) and all-wheel-drive models use a conventional 8-speed automatic transmission (similar to front-wheel-drive models) instead of a dual-clutch unit. The Taos offers balanced handling and a surprisingly spacious interior for a subcompact SUV.
