Replacing last year's Special Edition, the Wolfsburg trim is wedged in the lineup between the Trendline and Comfortline. Gone is the manual transmission, leaving only the six-speed automatic paired with front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive. The 200-horsepower, 2.0L four-cylinder turbo returns unchanged, but the entire Tiguan family, except the Trendline, gets new rims and a comprehensive list of factory-standard equipment. The Highline is more luxurious, but loses its sport suspension. The second-generation Tiguan will arrive here later this year.
