The second generation of the Tiguan might be longer, wider and heavier than the original, but it’s also less powerful (184 horsepower vs. 200 horsepower). The eight-speed automatic transmission has two more gears than past units, however, improving fuel economy. The Tiguan boasts a spacious interior with available third-row seats. The next generation is a year or two away, and electrification will likely be part of the mix at last.
