Details | On certain 318I, 325, 325E and 325ES vehicles, when a significant force is applied directly to the steering gearbox as the result of certain frontal crash conditions or front end contact with an object on the road, the steering column disengagement element, which is designed to reduce the amount of steering wheel rearward travel, could disengage completely. This would result in loss of post impact steering maneuverability without prior warning. Correction: Two plates will be bolted to the disengagement element to ensure that the element will not completely disengage in the event of an impact to the steering gear. |
