Details | On certain vehicles, the starter ring gear which is attached to the clutch assembly with three mounting screws may become separated. This failure could be caused by a fracture of the starter ring gear itself due to incorrect positioning of the mounting holes or; by the failure of the mounting screws. If either of these conditions occur, fragments of the starter ring gear may be thrown from the clutch area. If these fragments came into contact with the vehicle's tire, a puncture could occur resulting in the possible loss of vehicle control and a crash without prior warning to the driver. Correction: Dealer will replace the starter ring gear and/or mounting screws. |
