Details | Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 108, requiring the illumination of the stop lamps whenever the brakes are applied. The rear brakes may still be applied although the brake pedal is released and the stop lamps are no longer illuminated. A vehicle driven with the brakes applied can cause overheating of the brakes, resulting in increased stopping distance. Extended stopping distances can lead to a vehicle crash with injury or death. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module. |
