Details

Certain vehicles which are subjected to dusty environments and/or extensive usage with top/doors removed, the clockspring assembly for the driver's airbag may become damaged and fail due to dust ingress.

This could compromise the airbag circuit, which would result in the illumination of the airbag warning lamp and possible non-deployment of the driver's frontal airbag during a crash where deployment is warranted, which could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant.

Correction: Dealers will replace the clockspring, wheel back cover, and column shroud with a design that will further reduce the amount of dirt/dust intrusion.
