Ford Powertrain Recall #2016328

Recall date June 28, 2016
Models affected
  • 2015 Ford Focus
  • 2016 Ford Focus
Units affected 66
Details

On certain Focus Electric vehicles, there may be increased friction and excessive wear of the differential pinion gear shaft due to an error in manufacturing.

This could result in localized overheating and eventual fracture of the pinion shaft or pinion gears, which would result in a loss of motive power while driving and loss of the transmission park function without warning, which could allow the vehicle to roll away while in PARK, increasing the risk of injury and/or property damage.

Correction: Dealers will install a new transmission differential assembly.
