Details | On certain vehicles, if the water drainage system of the panoramic sunroof becomes damaged or impaired (such as during a repair), water could enter the side head curtain airbag canister. Due to a foam that is touching the airbag inflator, moisture could cause corrosion on the airbag inflator over time. If this happens, the airbag canister could be weakened. This could cause the airbag canister to fracture without airbag deployment and allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the vehicle for evidence of water ingress, examine the drainage system, disassemble the headliner and trim, remove foam and inspect the side head curtain airbag canister for relevant corrosion. In cases where light surface corrosion is found, a wax will be applied to the inflator. In cases of more than light surface corrosion, the inflator will be replaced after a robustness check. |
