Nissan Brakes Recall #2018733

Recall date December 21, 2018
Models affected
  • 2009 Nissan Murano
Units affected 5,924
Details

On certain vehicles, the brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) may become contaminated by a reaction between brake fluid and internal anti-corrosion coatings.

This could cause an internal control valve to stick open, potentially increasing brake pedal travel and/or stopping distances.

This may create an increased risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Correction: Dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 brake fluid.

The HCU will then be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition.

If necessary, HCU will be replaced.
