Details | Issue: Certain vehicles may not detect when the driver removes their hands from the steering wheel while using adaptive cruise control with lane centering. If this occurs, the driver may not be alerted by warnings to hold the steering wheel. This system is not designed for hands-free operation. Safety Risk: A driver may not be warned to put their hands back on the steering wheel, which could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for an update of the software for the Power Steering Control Module. |
