Issue: During a car wash, water can drain from the truck bed onto the top of the fuel pump.

Certain car wash detergents containing sulfuric acid could cause damage to the fuel pump.

This could cause the fuel pump to crack and create a fuel leak.

Safety Risk: Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of a fire.

Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail.

Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer for an inspection of the fuel pump.

If the fuel pump is cracked, it will be replaced.

Dealers will also install a fuel pump cover.

Note: Owners who smell a fuel odour or believe there is a fuel leak should contact a dealer immediately.
