Issue: The front cross-member may rust due to a manufacturing defect.

This could affect handling and cause reduced steering control.

Note: This problem only affects cars registered and operated in areas of heavy road salt usage during winter months (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador), Safety Risk: Reduced handling and steering control could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions: Mazda will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their car to a dealership to inspect the front cross-member and install a drain hose.

Depending on its condition, the dealer will install a reinforcement and a wax coating, or replace the front cross-member.
