| Details | Issue: On certain M5 and M8 models, the transmission wiring harness could become damaged and lead to a short circuit. As a result, the vehicle could suddenly shift to neutral while driving. Safety Risk: A sudden of loss power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the transmission wiring harness for damage and replace it if necessary. Additionally, the wiring harness will be rerouted and attached with different fasteners. |
