Details | Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the seat belt retractors for the rear outboard seats could contain a defect. This could cause the seat belt pretensioner not to function as designed. As a result, the seat belt may not properly restrain a passenger in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat belt that does not work properly in a crash could increase the risk of injury to passengers. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace the rear outboard seat belts. To reduce safety risk, BMW recommends not to carry passengers in the rear outboard seats until the recall repairs are performed. |
