Recall date January 5, 2021
Models affected
  • 2019 Kia Stinger
Units affected 241
Details

Issue: On certain cars equipped with a 2.0 L T-GDI engine, an engine compartment fire could occur while driving.

Kia believes that a fire could start in or near the brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU).

Note: This recall does not affect vehicles equipped with Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

Safety Risk: The car could catch fire while driving.

Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install a new fuse kit.

The kit contains two new fuses of 25A instead of 40A, which are designed to prevent an over-current condition.

Note: You may have received a notice from Kia in December 2020 to advise that your vehicle was not part of this recall, however this is a NEW recall expansion.

Contact Kia Canada or your local dealer if you have any questions about this recall.
