| Details | Issue: This recall is for certain vehicles that had the body domain controller (BDC) electronic control unit (ECU) replaced during a dealer service visit. On certain vehicles, a programming error in the replacement BDC ECU could cause the automatic door locking function not to work. As a result, a door that is not locked could open in a severe crash. Safety Risk: A door that opens in a crash could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reprogram the BDC ECU. To reduce the safety risk, BMW recommends that you should manually lock all doors before each trip until the recall repairs have been completed. |
