Review: 2015 Kia Sedona (06:30)

Serious question: When did ‘minivan’ become such a bad word?

What else out there can you pack all your family—and all your stuff—and still have room to stretch your legs on a long road trip?

Now, our man Brad Diamond has reviewed plenty of vehicles over the years and has a fair bit of experience with what’s out there.

So if the minivan, as Brad says, is “the best non-compromise vehicle on the road,” why are we so embarrassed to talk about them?

Enter the 2015 Kia Sedona, the newest minivan in a thinning market that has seen former segment leaders Ford and General Motors abandon ship to make room for more crossovers and SUVs.

So what exactly is Kia thinking?

Well for one, it’s probably best to stay away from the term ‘minivan’, instead leaning on ‘multi-purpose vehicle’ to fool us all.

And second, the Korean automaker sees an opportunity where others have moved on, and, in typical Kia fashion, has packed a whole lot of bang into the few bucks it will cost to get behind the wheel.

This segment originally appeared on Episode 6 of Motoring 2015.
