Throwback Thursday: 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI wagon (05:00)

Published on October 1, 2015 in Motoring TV by Graeme Fletcher

Up until a few weeks ago, buying a diesel-powered Volkswagen was an easy way to become the envy of your neighbours—perhaps not aesthetically, but at least economically.

How times have changed.

With the diesel scandal currently playing out very publicly, we decided to look back to the not-so-distant past this week, with an appearance of one of the earlier cars caught up in the trouble, the 2010 Jetta TDI.

"The other place this engine really impresses is the fact that when you compare it to the previous engine, it actually reduces particulate and nitrogen oxide emissions by 90 per cent," Graeme Fletcher said during the Jetta TDI's appearance on Test Drive.

If we only knew then what we know now...

This segment originally appeared on Episode 25 of Motoring 2009.
