Throwback Thursday: 1990 Volkswagen Passat wagon (04:43)

It was early in the Motoring 1990 season that the Volkswagen Passat wagon appeared on Test Drive alongside Graeme Fletcher.

Why the wagon?

"The reason we chose the wagon is because it seems most manufacturers are moving away from the wagon format towards the minivan," Graeme says.

Oh, how times have changed.

Aside from a few complaints, namely about the Passat's transmission, the sled impressed Graeme throughout the test, including during the pylon run, but not enough to stand out from the crowd.
