Test Drive: 2016 Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine (04:54)

Published on October 16, 2016 in Video Reviews by Graeme Fletcher

Completely redesigned from the ground up for 2016, the Volvo XC90 is about as impressive a premium SUV you'll find.

But this is no ordinary XC90, for this is the XC90 T8 Twin Engine, the automaker's plug-in hybrid looking glass into the future.

On top of tremendous luxury, the XC90 T8 Twin Engine brings a drivetrain that features a four-cylinder that is both turbocharged and supercharged, a rear electric motor and a 9.2-kWh battery pack.

With a combined 400 horsepower and 472 lb.-ft. of torque, the XC90 T8 Twin Engine has plenty of giddyup while keeping the fuel bill reasonable.

This segment originally appeared on Episode 16 of Motoring 2016.
