Scion FR-S Convertible?

If you want to enjoy an affordable sporting coupe with the top down, you currently have about as many options as a risky carpenter has fingers on one hand. But that might change shortly. 

Because although the MX-5 might have a certain stigma attached to it, and convertible Mustangs will always look like rental cars, Scion's willing to bet that there are plenty of red-blooded types out there that will line up to a buy a convertible version of their newest vehicle; the rear-wheel drive FR-S. Having shown a wild two-seat "Speedster" concept of the new platform at Long Beach, the decision to lop the roof off the popular coupe would certainly help justify the massive expense that the joint venture demanded of both Toyota and Subaru.

Speaking of which, although these rumours have all cited the Toyota GT 86/Scion FR-S as the likely candidate for decapitation, nothing of the like has been mentioned of Subaru's sister car, the BRZ. With a brand identity that certainly seems to be at odds with Scion's youthful, fun-loving nature, this might just be the first of many divisions that appear between the Toyota-branded rear-wheel drive coupe and it's Subaru-badged brethren.
