Ferrari to Offer More Hybrid Vehicles

News is circulating all over the web from an interview by Bloomberg with Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, who declared that the Italian brand would offer several cars with hybrid engines.

The decision was surely influenced by the enthusiasm generated by the seductive Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid whose 499 copies sold like lightning.

That being said, it is highly likely that future Ferrari hybrid powertrains will be less complex than the one that was used on the LaFerrari. It is also likely that they will be more affordable and therefore their production numbers will be higher.

“I don’t believe in the electric cars, but I strongly believe in hybrids,” di Montezemolo said in the interview with Sara Eisen at the the headquarters in Maranello, Italy.

With its extremely low profile and exotic lines that would irk even Pope Francis, there is nothing unplesant about Ferrari LaFerrari…save for its name!

Its hybrid technology, called HY-KERS, includes a 6.3-liter V12 engine that produces 800 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It’s also connected to a high-performance electric motor and together, they deliver a power output of 963 horses.

The car gets a robotic powered dual-clutch seven-speed gearbox which takes less than 3 seconds to reach 100 km / h or just 7 seconds to reach 200 km / h.

The asking price for the Ferrari LaFerrari prices hovers around $ 1.5 million.
