While Daimler, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen have given themselves until 2020 to produce their autonomous car, Tesla says it needs only three years to develop a car that can drive free from human assistance.

The big boss, Elon Musk, confirmed that his autonomous car will be managed 90% electronically through technological approaches developed by the Californian firm.

Tesla is the manufacturer of the fully electric Model S sedan. The Model S is the world's most popular electric car and ensures the most range which is around 480 km with the 85 option.

Currently, Google holds a clear lead in autonomous driving technology with prototype vehicles that have already been allowed by the various authorities to drive on California and Nevada roads.
