BMW Might Release a GTS-Like Version of the M4

Published on October 4, 2013 in News by Danny Geraghty

According to a report at topspeed.com, BMW is allegedly planning a centennial version of the new M4 coupe which will be similar to the previous generation M3 GTS.

The 2010 M3 GTS was a racing model which saw the back seats removed, carbon fiber panels to save weight, side glass replaced with polycarbonate, sound insulation gutted, the audio system removed entirely and a roll cage installed. The weight savings added up to about 100lbs.

The new M4 GTS will likely have many of the same weight saving modifications and will use a carbon fiber trunk lid, hood and fenders.

Inside, expect to see lightweight racing seats wrapped in Alcantara with three-point harnesses.

There are no details on power output yet but based on the last model, the 2016 GTS could deliver up to 465 horsepower.
