So far, British manufacturer McLaren has mainly attacked Ferrari and Lamborghini with its 12C coupe and roadster models. Recently added to the lineup is the P1 which aims for the limited hybrid supercar market including the Acura NSX, Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder.

However a third model is now in preparation and this time McLaren has the Porsche 911 in its sights.

Details Have Emerged

Like McLaren 12C and P1, it also uses a carbon fiber chassis to lighten its overall weight.

It’ll be more compact, house a 3.8 litre V8 biturbo engine of 450 horsepower and come with an automatic transmission with a seven-speed double clutch.

The coupe will take less than five seconds to go from 0-100 km/h and its top speed is already estimated at 322 km/h. Prototypes have been seen doing testing.

It wouldn’t be a competitor for the base Porsche 911 Carrera, but rather the faster versions, namely the GT3 and Turbo S.

According to reports circulating on the Internet, its name would be the McLaren P13, and will be available in 2014 as a 2015 model year.

The asking price is below $ 200 000.
