2014 Mini Hatchback: Bigger and Lighter
The new Mini, expected to arrive by mid 2014, is longer, wider and taller than the previous model, yet lighter by approximately 25 kg. A longer wheelbase improves comfort while the increased track preserves the legendary MINI “Go Kart” feel. The remodeled third generation front end sports a curvaceous hexagonal grille and round headlights with LED surrounds. The rear features larger taillights.
The redesigned drivetrain packages include all new turbocharged 1.5 litre three cylinder and 2.0 litre four cylinder gasoline engines. The base 1.5 litre produces 134 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. The Cooper S, with the 2.0 litre, boasts 189 hp and 207 lb-ft. Power transfers to the front wheels through all new six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
