2015 Porsche Macan Canadian Debut

Published on February 13, 2014 in Toronto by The Car Guide

The Porsche Macan has just made its debut on Canadian soil at the Toronto Auto Show. First unveiled to the world last November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Macan is a baby Cayenne which is sure to attract more customers to the German brand with its entry-level price point.

Built on an all-new platform (which will also underpin the next Audi Q5), the Macan will be offered in two trim levels: S and Turbo. If demand is there, more trims may be offered. The Macan S will be powered by a new twin-turbo 340 hp 3.0 litre V6, and the Turbo receives a stroked version of the same engine, whose 3.6 litre displacement offers up an even 400 horses. Both engines are mated to the requisite PDK 7-speed automated manual. All-wheel drive is, of course, standard.

North American markets will be offered a diesel engine version of the compact luxury SUV. It is a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel with 258 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. This model will be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and will have a fuel consumption of only 6.3 L/100 km.

The Macan won’t make it into Canadian showrooms before the end of spring 2014. The price of entry for a Macan S is set at $54,300, while the Turbo commands $82,200 - before adding on any options, of course.
