Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7: Honoring the D-Type

The Special Vehicle Operations division of Jaguar Land Rover, which was inaugurated earlier this month, just unveiled its first Jaguar: the F-TYPE Project 7. Created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the D-Type, the race car that won numerous editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the fifties, it officially became the fastest and most powerful Jaguar ever made.

You read that right: this gorgeous roadster has just been approved for a 250-unit limited run. Each of them will be hand made by the Special Vehicle Operations division, and they will all be powered by the 5 liter supercharged V8 engine, producing a healthy 575 HP. This power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox specially modified for the car.

If the lines of the Project 7 remind you of something, it’s because it is eerily similar to the concept unveiled last year by Jaguar that bore the same name (it got its name from the seven historical wins by the manufacturer at the 24 hours of Le Mans, by the way).

The sleek vehicle, with an 80 kg weight reduction compared to the F-Type V8 S convertible, goes from 0 to 100 in 3.9 seconds, on its way to a top speed of almost 300 km/h.

For those of you who are already signing the paperwork to order one, here are the available colors: Ultra Blue, Caldera Red, Ultimate Black, Glacier White and of course, British Racing Green (with white decals).

The only question remaining is how are you going to justify not buying one in the glorious colors of the legendary Jaguars of old?
